Claire D. Egan

 Egan, Claire D. of Walpole, formerly of Needham and Brookline, on March 21, 2024. 90 years old

Claire graduated from Brookline High School in 1951 and had worked at New England Telephone Co. for over 30 years. She was a member of the Needham Pool and Racket Club, the Royal Crest Golf League and Book Club, and was an avid bridge player.

Beloved wife of the late Daniel Egan. Loving mother of Richard M. Egan (Timothy Wosko) of the South End, David Egan (Maribeth Cramer Egan) of Hingham, Jane M. Egan (Fred Tatar) of Norwood and Christopher L. Egan (Ann Doherty Egan) of Brookline. Grandmother of Daniel Egan Tatar of Norwood, Kate Tatar (Dodam Ih) of South San Francisco, Matthew Egan of Hingham. Sister of John J. “Jack” McCarthy and his wife Joan and Kevin B. McCarthy all of West Roxbury, James M. McCarthy of Bonita Springs, FL, and the late William L. McCarthy (Rita), Sgt Francis P. McCarthy, U.S.A.F., Corp. Leonard J. McCarthy, U.S.M.C. and Thomas M. McCarthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Most recently, Claire resided at New Pond Village in Walpole, MA. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at New Pond Village, as well as a special thanks to Leah Swank, Amy Wernig, and Diane Vitagliano.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2024 at 11 AM in the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St., Newton Centre.
