Clara A. (Taylor) St. Germain, of West Newton passed away at her home on Dec 7, 2018. She was 97.
Clara was born in 1921 in Newton to Mary and Charles Taylor and graduated from Newton High in 1939 and from Boston Dental School of Nursing in 1940. She worked for two dentists in the area before joining the US Navy in 1942 as a dental assistant. She served at Floyd Bennett Field, NY, Bainbridge, MD St. Louis, MO and Olathe, KS. In 1948 she married Albert J. Drummond and had three children, Denise, Kyle and Gregory. She was widowed in 1958 and in 1959 married Wilfred St Germain and had two sons Philip and Matthew. Clara also has 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. After Wilfred died in 1981, she went to work as a matron for the Waltham Police Dept for 5 years. She moved back to Newton in 1985 where she worked for a local dentist until retirement. She was also a member of Women Amvets Post 11 of Boston.
Her funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 456 Centre St Newton Corner on Wed Dec 12 at 11 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 12 Noon. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mt. Feake Cemetery Waltham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tues 4-8 PM.
