Constance "Connie" Shelton Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Connie Shelton, 95, of Westwood announces her passing on September 10, 2018.  Born in Boston November 27, 1922 to Beatrice and Clarence Colby.   Connie grew up in Newton with her four sisters.  She was educated in Newton schools and later attended Colby-Sawyer College.  Connie was married to John Alexander Shelton from 1942 until his passing in 1993.  Later, she spent 18 years with her loving companion, Milt Schmidt.

As a homemaker, she was devoted to her family, and she also was passionate about golfing, especially at Needham Golf Club.  Always being sports-minded, she loved sailing and tennis and she avidly followed professional hockey, tennis, and baseball.

In 2006, she moved to Fox Hill Village, where she enjoyed the company of many good friends and spent her time playing bridge, reading, and all the activities offered by Fox Hill.

She will be remembered for her gracious ways, independent spirit, impeccable style, warm heart, and friendly smile.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Bea Wilson, Janet Drury, and Libby Snyder.

Connie will be sadly missed by her sister, Barbara Crowley, of Peabody; her son, John Colby Shelton, and his wife, Luakini ma’o Heublein, of Natick; her son, Peter Lowell Shelton, and his wife, Judy Howe Shelton, of Southborough; her granddaughter, Jessica Shelton Sylver, her husband, Sean Sylver, and great-grandchild, William, of Norfolk; and her granddaughter, Stephanie Howe Shelton, of Belmont.

A private service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
