Dominic S. Bonanno of Hingham (formerly Arlington), November 25, 2018. Dominic was predeceased by the love of his life for 63 years, (Mary) Grace. He was the most loving father of Paula (Bonanno) Lordi and a most beloved grandfather of Robert, Hannah and Jack Lordi, all of Dover. He glowed with pride this spring as he watched his twin grandchildren graduate from high school and ready themselves for college, and Jack finish middle school and start high school this year.
Dominic was the brother of Santa (Bonanno) Insalaco of Revere, and was the predeceased sibling of Salvatore, Mary (Jenny), and Anthony. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dominic grew up in East Boston surrounded by a loving family. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served in Trieste, Italy which started his lifelong love of travel. He returned from the war, married and attended night school at Northeastern to earn his degree. He worked with the federal government where he was proudly for 30 years and later continued to help folks “keep the books” well into his retirement. He was the consummate old fashioned gentleman. His personality was gentle and kind and he was liked by all who knew him. He loved his family and many friends, traveling to new places, a great dish of pasta on Sunday and sneaking pastry when Mom wasn’t looking. He had a wonderful life.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dominic’s life by gathering for calling hours at The Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre Street, Dover, MA on Friday 11/30 @ 9:00 AM directly followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM.
