Edward S. Cahalane, a resident of Needham for 54 years, died at his home on Sept 12, 2018. He was 84.
Ed was born in Boston and had played the French horn with the Milton Grenadiers. He was a Sgt in the US Air Force during the Korean War, and was very active for many years with the Manson H. Carter Post No 2498 VFW, serving as Surgeon, and Past Commander of the Dover American Legion. He volunteered for many years as an instructor for the St Bartholomew Marching Band, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and had served for many years on the board of the Needham Housing Authority.
Ed was the beloved husband of Nora (Lee) Cahalane, the loving father of Edward J. and his wife Clara of Franklin, Stephen J. and his wife Edith of Dunedin FL and Michael L. and his wife Cassandra of Boston. Grandfather of Katelyn Todesco and her husband D.J. and Brian Cahalane.
His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Tues Sept 18 at 9 AM followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church at 10 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Mon 4-7 PM.
