Eileen Roy Obituary

Eileen M. Roy, 97, of Needham, passed away on November 27, 2018 in Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton.

Eileen was a very generous, kind person.  She was also a caretaker.  She took care of her mother at her home until she passed, she tended to her elderly aunts and eventually her husband until he passed.  She donated to various charities.  She also donated her time for several years as a Girl Scout Leader.  She was talented at arts and crafts and would make crocheted dolls for the Needham Art Fair among other handmade items.  She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting.  She was an avid murder mystery reader.  James Patterson was her favorite author. She “always had her nose in a book” as her mother would say.  Her daughter gave her a Kindle when she was around 90 and she loved it.  She called it her “dingle” and before she lost her eyesight, she’d read up to 3 books a week.
She worked as a secretary and a bookkeeper.  She retired from Vara Realty Trust and Dale Tool and Dye at age 85.  She was a very responsible and consciences employee at any position she held in her long career.
She loved her grandchildren, Abby and Patrick.  She also loved all animals, especially her daughters dog, Cooper, who would often visit her at the nursing home.  Cooper loved Nana too, most likely because she would always feed him off her plate whenever she had a chance.

In younger years she enjoyed singing and dancing.  She loved music.  One of her favorite singers was Frank Patterson and his Irish tunes.  She loved musicals, especially The Sound of Music and Dirty Dancing (she had a crush on Patrick Swayze). She had her own “signature dance move” which those who knew her can visualize.  Her sense of humor could be a bit off color but very amusing.  She was a very well liked individual.

Daughter of the late Julia (Ahearn) Condrin and James Condrin of Needham, sister of the late J. Paul, William and Richard Condrin and Ann (Condrin) Dugdale of Walpole, Loving wife of the late Albert Roy, beloved mother of Teresa (Roy) Clinton and her husband, Robert of Canton, cherished grandmother of Abby Clinton and the late Patrick Clinton.
