Elaine M. (Whitehead) Kell

Elaine (Whitehead) Kell of Auburndale passed away on Sept 16, 2019. She was 87.

Elaine was raised in the Wollaston section of Quincy and was a 1949 graduate of Quincy High and she also attended the Fay School of Business. She had lived in Auburndale since 1956.

She worked for many years as a secretary for Bethlehem Steel Co., Lasell College in Newton and retired from the Clark Middle School in Lexington. Elaine was a Girl Scout Troop leader and a mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls and for many years a member of Palestine Chapter No. 114 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a Past Matron and held many other positions. She also enjoyed performing the light operas of Gilbert and Sullivan with the community theatre organization, the Sudbury Savoyards. Elaine had a lifelong love of music and sang in many local talent shows and church choirs.

Elaine was the wife of the late William Kell Jr. and is the beloved mother of Susan Kell of Natick and Nancy Kell of Sunapee, NH. She was the sister of Janet C.W. Moniz of Rockland and the late Mildred Clapp, Harold “Bud” Whitehead and Marjorie Urban, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to arrive at The Episcopal Parish of St. Paul, 1135 Walnut St Newton Highlands at 9 AM on Sat Sept 21 to visit with her family prior to her funeral service which will begin at 10 AM.  A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Burial will be private in NH. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Fri from 4-7 PM. Palestine Chapter No 114 OES, will perform a service at 6 PM.
