Eleanor M. (Monahan) Moschella

Mrs. Eleanor M. Moschella passed away at age 94 on July 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Winthrop, she graduated from Regis College and received a Masters from Simmons College. Eleanor became a home economics teacher. She taught school for over 25 years both in Philadelphia and in Boston Public Schools. She was a lifelong learner. She attended many quilting workshops and belonged to many quilting and knitting groups. She was an avid knitter. She knitted for many charitable foundations.

After 25 years as a navy doctor’s wife, Eleanor returned with Sam and her children to Newton Centre, where they lived for over 50 years. She accompanied her loving husband on his medical trips as a professor and guest speaker, which took them all over the world. Her favorite place was Hale Koa, Oaho, Hawaii.

Eleanor enjoyed watching her grandchildren in many school and sports events.  She was very proud of their many academic accomplishments and successful careers. 

Eleanor leaves her devoted husband of 71 years, retired Dr. Samuel L. Moschella, a Dermatologist at the Lahey Clinic for 50 years. Dedicated mother of Patricia Fenlon and her husband Michael Fenlon, of Auburndale, Susan Beebe, of Marblehead, and Thomas Moschella, of Bedford. She is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Monahan, formerly of Westport, CT.   Proud grandmother of Christopher Fenlon and his wife Sarah, Patrick Fenlon and his wife Jacqueline, Katherine Fenlon and her husband Joseph Jarck, Victoria Garcia-Albea and her husband Javier, Junius Beebe, Samuel Beebe and his wife Nerissa Cooney, Jessica Moschella and her husband Jerry Meade, John Moschella and his wife Anna, Aliza Moschella. Her loving 9 great-grandchildren brought her so much joy, Diego, Oscar, Fiona, Leo, Eleanora, Anna, Jack, Peter and Sam.She leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. Eleanor is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 23 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend. Visitation will be held in the church from 11am to 12 noon, prior to Mass. Burial will be private at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
