Elmo Orciani Obituary

Elmo “Al” Orciani of Millis, formerly of Needham, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8th surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born in Needham on March 7th, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marietta (Cardinali) and the brother of Doris Forchielli of Shrewsbury, MA.  A proud Needham resident for 75 years, he leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Elves (Manzon) Orciani, his doting children Doug Orciani and his wife Tara of Windham, NH, Deahn Shaughnessy of Medway, MA, Rod Orciani and his wife Ellen of White Plains, MD, Dayle Orciani of Ormond Beach, FL and Paul Orciani and his wife Sherri of Asheville, NC. He also leaves behind 11 adoring grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, Jake, Ryan, Gina, Patrick, Mandy, Jared, Leah, Kevin and Derrick as well as his 6 great grandchildren. His longtime companion a German Shepherd mix, named “Cody” awaits him.

Elmo graduated from Needham High School in 1947 where he served as class President and Captain of the football team. Post high school he attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. He spent 45 years in the construction industry the last 25 years of which at Wallboard Construction where he served as Executive Vice President until his retirement in 1993.

As someone who always put his family first, he led by example in all aspects of his life. A man of integrity and conviction, he had little issue with letting you know where you stood or how he felt. He was also a man of many talents and was known to those around him as the person who could fix or build anything. He enjoyed spending his weekends and summers surrounded by his family and close friends, which he referred to as his “lake family” at the family’s summer home on lake Webster in Franklin, NH. It’s there where he was happiest and where he helped created so many wonderful and lasting memories for those he leaves behind.

The family would like to thank some special individuals who went out of their way to make sure he got the most out of life; His nephew Michael Manzon and his wife Beth, Dr. Stewart Lecker, Dr. David Buckle, Dr. Stephen Eyre and the staff at the Fresenius Kidney Care in Westwood, MA.  Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Tuesday, December 11th rom 4-8 pm.
