Glendella Kilson Garrett (98), formerly of Newton, passed away peacefully September 28, 2018.
She was born in Brockton to Charles and Mary (Reavis) Kilson. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1938 and then from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She married John B. Garrett Jr., DDS in 1950 and joined him in Germany where he was an army dentist. After returning to the US they lived in Roxbury, then moved to Newton where they raised their daughters Audrey and Elaine. She enjoyed collecting antiques, listening to opera and visiting the Fine Arts and Gardner Museums. She returned to school in her 60's to complete her BSN and was employed in the nursing field until her retirement.
Glendella was predeceased by her husband of 59 years. She is survived by Elaine Garrett and Dana Boyd of Medford, MA and Audrey Garrett and Mary Gillette of Bloomfield, CT. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunrise of Arlington for the compassion and care provided to our mother over the past several years.
A private interment will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne on October 19. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
