Gregory Metallides

Gregory Metallides, 96, passed away at home on Bigelow Street in Brighton on Dec 24th surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Erasmia of 67 years. He leaves behind his son Themis Metallides with his wife Ginger, and his daughter Mary with her husband Theodore Djaferis. Gregory had 6 grandchildren, Gregory with his wife Heather, Melissa, EJ, Harry with his wife Danielle, Jennifer with her husband Jeff Michaud, and Katherine with her husband Barton Holl. He also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, Aaron, Ayva, Drew, Cole, Aiden, and Olivia.

Gregory was born in Sochum Russia in 1923 and traveled to Greece with his family at the age of 2 fleeing communism. He lived in Katerini Greece, until 1963 when he and his family immigrated to the US for opportunities of a better life.

He worked at MGH as gardener until his retirement at the age of 65. He was an elder at the Greek Evangelical Church for over 30 years and served the church community faithfully. He had a great tenor voice and sang in the church choir for over 50 years. He will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Fri Dec 27 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM in the Greek Evangelical Church, 1115 Centre St Newton Centre. 

His funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM followed by burial at The Gardens at Gethsemane.
