John J. Keris, 103, a lifelong resident of Needham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at North Hill in Needham. John was a graduate of Needham High School, where he captained the football, basketball and baseball teams. He attended Northeastern University. Mr. Keris was a US Army, World War II Veteran and was discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. He worked for Boston Saw and Knife as a machinist until he retired. John loved to play cribbage and enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid reader. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Stella (Roklan) Keris. John was the loving father of Anne and her husband Henry DiGiorgio of Franklin and the grandfather of Traci and her husband Jonathan Robie, Lynne and her husband James Edgehill and Bryan and his wife Leslie DiGiorgio. He is also survived by his 7 great grandchildren; Vanessa, Christopher, Joshua, Sienna, Alexander, Henry and Lauryn. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Monday, July 16th from 4-7 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Church 1180 Greendale Ave, Needham, on Tuesday at 10 am. Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to Friends of Needham Senior Center, 300 Hillside Ave, Needham, MA 02494.
