Jorie Ann Ftorek

Jorie Ann Ftorek, 62, of Needham and Binghamton, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 25.  She suffered a heart attack and slipped away peacefully with her dog Lexi at her side.

Jorie’s immediate family includes brother Steve and wife Tessa, brother Robbie and wife Wendy, nieces and nephews Sam & Misty, Lucie & Chris, Casey & Katie, Julie, Matthew & Allison, Sarah & Salim; great nieces and nephews Ariana, Savo, Mason, Maslin, Silas, Bayley, Emma, Lily, Fynn, Talon, Cooper, Camille, and Jace.  Making time for her nieces and nephews and their families was her greatest joy.  She was an endless source of support, encouragement and love.  She will be missed by special friends Patti, Chris and Jere, her Binghamton friends and supporters and the “Ftorek Fanatics”, her golf followers.  She was predeceased by parents Steve and Ruth and niece Anna Ftorek.

Jorie graduated from Needham High School and worked as a dental assistant in Needham, while also pursuing her love of sports.  She played on the “YNOTS” softball team in Newton for years and then directed her focus to golf.   She won the club championship in Wolfeboro, NH and went on to play on the futures tour for 6 years. Jorie settled in Binghamton NY to become an LPGA Class A teaching pro and coach of the Binghamton High School golf team.  She was a breast cancer survivor of 22 years and supported several foundations in Binghamton.  She raised money for these foundations each year at her annual end of year “Ftorek Finale” golf tournament. She was a shining light to her students, her golf team, and her family and friends.  There will be a funeral Mass at St Joseph’s Church in Needham on Thursday, October 11 at 10:00 am.  Another service will follow in Binghamton on November 11 at Jorie’s home golf course, Endwell Greens.
