On October 31, 2019, Kevin Paul Burns unexpectedly gained his wings at the age of 69. He was from Soesterberg, The Netherlands, formerly from Newton Upper Falls, MA. He leaves behind his wife and soulmate of 32 years, Hanneke, NL; his daughter Jennifer, her husband Richard, and their children Brianna and Richard, MA; his “baby” sister Kathy Lee Burns, FL; his nephew Michael Passerello, RI; and his stepfather Thomas Griggs, MA. Predeceased by his father Clarence Burns and his mother Annette Griggs.
Kevin retired as a Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force after 26 years of faithful service. After his retirement, he spent his days looking after his “working girl” and 3 cats, and fishing with Bill and Bob on Mondays. Kevin translated and edited the book his best friend Mario wrote on the history of the 32nd Wolfhounds of the United States Air Force. He volunteered for the “Utrecht Landscape” at the former US Air Force base in Soesterberg, which has been turned into a national park. When visiting the States, he loved fishing with best buddy Ralph. Throughout his life, Kevin always looked for the best and brought out the best in people with a big smile on his face.
Military service at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Doctors Without Borders at www.donate.doctorswithouotborders.org.
