Mary L. (McEachern) Rogers, of Newton Highlands died at her home on Sept 30, 2018. She was 88.
Mary was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada and had been a resident of Newton since 1960. Prior to coming to Newton, she was a teacher in Canada. She worked for 25 years at Stone Institute in Newton Upper Falls as a nursing supervisor. She was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Rogers, and the loving mother of Kathryn Rogers Miramichi N.B., Phyllis Schmerbeck and her husband Michael of Kintnersville PA, Jean Martlin and her husband Jeffrey of Newton Highlands, Elizabeth Rogers of Newton Highlands, Thomas Rogers and his wife Ana of Basking Ridge NJ, and Margaret Hansen and her husband Fritz of Auburn ME. Dear “Nana” of Kristen Belfield and her husband Cameron, Michelle Martlin, Michael Schmerbeck, Jr, Peter Hansen, Sven Hansen, Sylvana Rogers and “Great Nana” of RJ Nelson. She is the sister of Catherine Zatler and was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is also survived by her special family friend Dorene Gillis.
Her funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thurs Oct 4 at 9:30 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours Wed 4-8 PM.
