Nancy Lee (Carter) Eaton, of Pocasset, formerly of Needham, died peacefully surrounded by loving family Sunday, June 24th at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. She was 84 years old. Born and raised in Needham, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Beulah (Martin) Carter. Nancy was a graduate of Needham High School and Colby-Sawyer College. Nancy worked for many years as a legal secretary for William Bowers and especially enjoyed her time working at Taylor's Stationery in Needham Center.
Nancy was a lifelong resident of Needham until 1999 when she and Dick retired to Pocasset, MA and Holmes Beach, FL. Nancy was a member of the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with Dick and their four children at the Needham Pool and Racquet Club. Affectionately known as 'Nan' to her grandchildren, she never missed an opportunity to spend quality time with them, whether in Florida, Cape Cod, or simply being there to attend their soccer or baseball games and the many dance and music recitals.
Nancy Lee is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Warren Eaton and her oldest son, William W. "Bill" Eaton. She is survived by her three living children; Richard C. Eaton and his wife, Kathy of Asheville, NC, Gary L. Eaton of Medfield and his former wife, Elinor of Dover, Janice Hobaica and her husband, David of Mansfield, and William's wife, Kathy of Warwick, RI. Nancy was the grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 5. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave., Needham on Saturday, June 30 at 12:00 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
