Richard D. “Rick” Scully of Needham, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, after a brief illness with Cancer. He was born in Westwood, MA July 28, 1942, the son of Joseph and L’Dora (LeVangie) Scully. Rick worked for Honeywell/Bull for 35 years as a production manager in publications, followed by working for Tufts Medical Center in Telecommunications until retirement. He was a resident of Needham since 1976. He was the husband of Ruth P. (Bayliss) Scully for 51 years and the father of Cynthia J. Forbes and her husband Mark Forbes, Christine H. Palmer and her husband Scott Palmer. Grandfather of Connor Forbes, Quinn Palmer, Caroline Forbes, and Nicholas Palmer. Rick was the brother of Margaret Wells of Maine and Elizabeth Flack of Oklahoma, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Catherine Howes of Maine, John Scully of Franklin, Warren Scully of Utah, William Scully of Virginia and Edward Scully of Maine. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday, August 16th from 5-8 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1362 Highland Ave, Needham, on Friday August 17th at 10am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s name may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice, 125 Winter St, Lincoln MA 01773 or to Brigham and Women’s Hospital Oncology Department, 75 Francis St, Boston MA 02115.
