Thomas F. Heavey, 79, retired Brookline Police Detective, of Walpole formerly of Needham and Brookline passed away on July 31, 2018. Tom had lived with Alzheimer’s Disease for the past several years.
Tom attended Brookline High School, served four years in the U.S. Air Force and earned a degree from UMass Boston. Tom worked as a police officer/detective for the Brookline Police Department for 33 years. Tom enjoyed playing golf, traveling, photography and playing pinochle.
He was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Maloney) Heavey. Beloved husband for 53 years of Patricia (Meade) Heavey. Father of four daughters: Ellen Volpe and her husband Bob of Needham, Clare Pallis Mathews and her husband Bo of Blackstone, Laura Gavel and her husband Ronnie of Walpole and Kathryn Koepenick and her husband Sean of Walpole. Brother of Robert Heavey and his wife Debby of Natick, Michael Heavey and his late wife Jane of Needham, Richard Heavey and his wife Jan of Medfield and Jack Heavey and his wife Susan of Needham. Tom is also survived by eight grandchildren; Emily and Julia Pallis, Ryan and Jessica Gavel, Charlie and Audrey Volpe, and Max and Lila Koepenick. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Friday, August 3rd from 5-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, 1362 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Saturday, August 4th at 10 am. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
