Vincenza “Jean” (Amendola) Wanagel of Weymouth formerly of Needham passed away on Oct 1, 2018. She was 97.
Jean was born in Cambridge and lived for may years in the Thompsonville village in Newton and for 54 years in Needham prior to moving to Weymouth. She was a hairdresser and had been actively working until she was 90.
Jean was the beloved wife of the late Alexander Wanagel and the loving mother of Lorraine Barilaro and her husband James of Weymouth and Ronald Wanagel and his wife Ginger of Smithfield UT. Dear “Gramma” of James Barilaro of Longmeadow, Jean Callan and her husband Michael of Longmeadow, Steven Barilaro and his wife Natasha of Davidsonville MD, Kathryn Legbandt and her husband Joshua of Albuquerque NM and Annemarie McAsey and her husband Patrick of Helena MO and “Great Gramma” of 12. She is the sister of the late Mary Antonellis, Francis Antonellis, Rose Iannuzzi, Antoinette Rapczynski, Anne Nuzzi, Dorothy Saunders, V. James Amendola and Louise Giglio. Sister in law of Yvonne Amendola of Winter Hill FL.
A visiting hour will be held on Sat Oct 6 from 9 until 10 AM in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church. Interment will follow in Holyhood Cemetery Brookline. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
