Winifred L. (Speers) O'Gorman “Winnie”, of Port Orange FL, formerly of Hull and Nevada, passed away on November 15, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Thomas L. O’Gorman and loving mother of the late Anita L. Montoya and Evelyn L. Lally. She is survived by Patricia and her husband Scott Cline of Port Orange, FL, Thomas and his wife Debra O’Gorman of Syosset, NY, Barbara and her husband Daniel Champagne of Butler, NJ, Roy Montoya of Marlboro and Jim Lally of Chelmsford. Also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Besides being a wife and mother, Winnie was most noted for her volunteer services on behalf of children and young adults spanning the 1970’s thru the 90’s, working a child abuse and neglect hotline, a new local junior high school library and as an active and avid supporter of the Hull Performing Arts. She opened her home for when no other space was available at the time.
She received letters of commendation The National Council of Christians and Jews and Senators Edward M. Kennedy and Edward W. Brooke. In 1996 Winnie received a Royal Commendation and Medal from the Prince Regent in Australia. Winnie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a former member of the New England Press Association.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Saturday, December 1st at 1pm. Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm prior to the service. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated in remembrance of a Mother and Daughters lost to cancer.
