Alana Uy Tow of Needham, 19, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2022 at Albany Medical Center, with her family and loved ones by her side.
Alana was born in Boston and raised in Needham, Massachusetts with her parents, two younger sisters and Great Grandmother. She will be remembered for her love for her family and friends, her fun-loving spirit and sense of humor and her high academic and athletic drive.
As a sophomore at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, she received various awards for her achievements and was most recently participating in a 6 month co-op at Cisco which is almost unheard of following a freshman year. She was both a captain and MVP tennis player at Needham High School. She spent her summers at NECYSC first as a camper and then a counselor where she met some of her dearest friends, including her boyfriend Ian Chuang who she loved dearly. She enjoyed working with electronics and technology alongside her uncle Wes and grandfathers Randy and Alex. She enjoyed shopping and finding a good deal, taking Instagram photos, and live streaming her Valorant games on Twitch where she had a devoted following. She was a bright light and joy to all who knew her.
Alana was the beloved daughter of Michael and Nancy Tow, and dear sister of Mikayla and Sienna Tow. She is also survived by grandparents Randy and Susan Tow, Alex and Amy Uy, her aunts and uncles Darren and Kyoungmin Tow, Cynthia and Ryan McPherson, Lina Uy and Michael Zhu, Wes Uy, Anabelle Uy, her seven cousins Tae, Corey, Max, Jillian, Alex, Connor and Madelyn,her godparents Chase and Shirley Mui, her boyfriend Ian Chuang and her adorable dog and bunny, Taro & Tofu.
All are welcome to join us in remembering and honoring the life of Alana Uy Tow. A wake will be held at Eaton Funeral Home in Needham, MA on Friday, September 23 from 4pm-7pm with Shared remembrances beginning at 7pm that will be Live Streamed (www.HarborView.live). Burial services will follow on Saturday, September 24 at 10am at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston, MA. The funeral procession will leave from Eaton Funeral Home at 9:30am.
