Albert K Bowers Jr., Boston Fire Dept. retired, formerly of Needham, died August 1st at the Ellis Nursing and Rehab Center in Norwood, after a 30-year-long battle with MS. He was 80 years old. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Albert K Bowers Sr and Mary (Feeley) Bowers. Albert worked as a Principal Fire Alarm Operator for the Boston Fire Department for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Boston Sparks Association. The beloved husband of 25 years of the late Carol Ann (Broderick). He was the devoted father of Karen McCue and her husband Dan of Norwood, Shawn Bowers retd. FDNY of Florida, and Kevin Bowers retd. FDNY and his wife Theresa also of Florida. He was the caring Grandfather to Christina & Sydney McCue both of Norwood. He also leaves behind his brother Robert D. Bowers and his wife Patricia of Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews, and his former wife Erin O’Neil.
Visiting hours in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1352 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday, August 4th from 4-7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave, Needham on Friday at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 2523 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
