Alice (Dawson) Wilson, of Framingham formerly of Newton Centre died on Monday Jan 10, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. She was 98.
Born Nov 12, 1912 in Nelson, New Brunswick, Canada, Alice lived and played on the Miramachi River in New Brunswick as a child with six sisters and one brother. She was sent to Newton Centre for a high school education at age 16 by her parents, Thomas and Celia Dawson. She then became a nanny in Newton for a young family and went on to become owner extraordinaire of Holden’s Taxi in Newton Centre for over 25 years until retiring in 1977. Alice was quick to laugh, and quick to take charge. She thoroughly enjoyed her family’s antics and plays, their get-togethers and a good game of cards. She loved Newton, her daily newspaper and keeping current with her family.
Alice was the devoted wife of the late Robert E. Wilson, and is survived by her children Joanne Smacula and her companion Robert of OH, Peter Wilson and his wife Marianne of Ashland, Paul Wilson and his wife Judy of CO, her sister of Agnes Kirk of Miramachi New Brunswick, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert E. Wilson Jr.
Her funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Sat Jan 15 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be Fri 4-8 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery.
