Allan T. McIntosh of Attleboro, formerly of Walpole and Foxboro, passed away on April 3, 2026 at the VA Medical Center, Hospice House, in Brockton, Massachusetts with his family by his side.
Ted was born in Natick on September 5 th , 1936, and was raised in Needham where he graduated from Needham High School in 1955. He enlisted in the US Army and served from
1958 until 1964. While on weekend leave in Florence, AL, Ted’s life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Maxine. That chance meeting turned into a lifelong partnership of over 65 years. They married 6 months later, and brought his beautiful bride North where they built a life grounded in faith, family, and love.
Following his honorable discharge, he worked at his family’s garage on Great Plain Ave in Needham until he took a job as a computer technician for the Patriot Ledger where he worked until he retired; a career spanning 40+ years. Ted was a dedicated Mason serving as Past Master of Norfolk Lodge A.F. & A.M and a 5-time Past Patron of Wistaria Chapter OES. He was a “Jack of all trades” always working on something from home renovations and auto-mechanics, to building model airplanes, Atari games, Radio’s, and TVs with the Heath Kit brand from Radio Shack. He was stalwart with his support and would give his right arm to anyone in need. His hands bore the marks of a life spent giving to others. His grandkids fondly remember him asking them to count his fingers and then their own every time he had the chance (they had 10, and he had 9 – due to a sawing accident).
Ted was a man deeply rooted in his heritage. He carried stories and values of his ancestors with pride, dedicating much of his life to honoring and preserving his family’s history. He loved to be near the water. He enjoyed swimming, sailing, and spending time on the beach with his family on Plum Island. He and Maxine were also regulars on the dance floor, whether ballroom dancing or doing the jitterbug in the kitchen. We’ll remember him holding her close, gazing into each other’s eyes and smiling as if no one were watching. Ted proudly affirmed Maxine was the most beautiful woman in any room they entered.
Loving husband of Maxine (Miller) McIntosh of Attleboro, the devoted father of Terry Wayne McIntosh (Tina), of Deerfield Beach, FL, Cynthia D. Levesque (Larry), of Pembroke, and Allan “Teddy” McIntosh II (Linda), of Natick. Older brother to Susan Roberts (Rocky) Lynchburg, VA, and Gay Jackson (Bob) of Franklin, MA, and to the late Norma Chalmers (Don), Bob McIntosh (Cindy), and Roy McIntosh (Karen). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will begin at 10am on Tuesday, April 21 st followed by Masonic and Pastoral services at 11am at the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham, MA. Services will conclude with Military Honors at Needham Cemetery. All are invited back to Norfolk Lodge for refreshments afterwards.
We want to thank the nursing staff at the VA Medical Center Hospice House in Brockton, MA for being the calm in our storm for the past 9 months. There is a special kind of God given Grace in a VA hospice nurse – a blend of grit and extreme gentleness. They saw the soldier he was and the man he remained, tending to both with equal devotion and dignity listening to his stories even if they had already been told, and keeping him company during the hours we couldn’t be with him. In lieu of flowers we’d like to suggest that you donate to the Hospice House at the Brockton VA Medical Center Donate online | Veteran Affairs
