Allen Boemer Obituary

With hearts full of love and memories, we announce the passing of Allen J. Boemer (89), formerly of Newton, a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, neighbor and devoted husband of the late Lois (Hoffmann) Boemer of nearly 65 years.

Allen passed comfortably on New Year’s Eve morning as dawn was on the horizon at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Mass.  Sadly, he was predeceased by his dear daughter Susan Sullivan (Michael) and is survived by his loving children: Cheryl Boemer, Lisa Boemer (formerly Byrne) and Eric Boemer (Sally).

Allen so enjoyed family gatherings and rarely missed a celebration or event.  As Lois did too, he adored spending time with his grandchildren and shared in their joys and supported them with his unconditional love: Brendan Sullivan (Rebecca), Meghan Jones (the late Nick Jones), Darcy Feeley (Brian), and Bridget Donahue (Derek); Ryan (Caroline), Caileigh and Thomas Byrne; and William and Anna Boemer.  He so enjoyed his precious great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Samantha, Bryleigh, Raury, Harper, Murphy, Harrison, Duncan, and Mackenzie.

Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Allen met Lois through a mutual friend, and they became engaged on Christmas Eve before he left for the military in Korea.  They were married soon after his return and became inseparable.  Lois supported Allen as he attended Washington University to achieve his architectural degree.  They settled in Newton where they raised their four children and shared friendships with many in the neighborhood and church community.  Allen, a lifelong learner, went on to earn his Master's Degree from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design in 1995.

After retiring, Lois and Allen moved to New Horizons in Marlboro, Mass. where they enjoyed making new friends.  Allen will be remembered for his patience, kindness and sense of humor.

For over 50 years their faith was grounded in the community of the Lutheran Church of the Newtons where a celebration of life will be hosted for Allen and Lois on Saturday, January 25th at 1:00 PM at 1310 Centre St., Newton Centre, Mass.

For those who are unable to attend in person, a zoom connection will be provided by reaching out to the church office (kindly request a few days in advance) by emailing: PastorVerhulst@gmail.com

Memorial donations may be made to Every Child’s Hope (ECH) - formerly the Evangelical Children’s Home, where Lois and Allen were house parents and Allen’s grandfather resided as a child.  Founded in 1858 as an orphanage for immigrant children who lost their parents in cholera outbreaks and continues to this day to provide youth with transitional housing as well as emotional, physical and spiritual guidance. https:everychildshope.org
