Anna E. (Garofalo) Costa of Newton Upper Falls and Centerville, MA passed away on July 23, 2021. She was 91.
A lifelong resident of Newton, Anna graduated from Newton North High School class of 1947 at the age of 16, specializing in the Secretarial program. She had been a Bookkeeper and Office Manager at Berejik Motors (Oldsmobile) in Needham, MA for more than 50 years. Anna was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends at home and at her Cape house. Neighbors, family and friends all looked forward to her Christmas Eve celebration, after Midnight Mass every Christmas. She also loved to quilt, do needlework and crafts of all kinds. As a resident of The Stone Rehabilitation and Senior Living facility, Anna could be found spending her days in the craft room, socializing with friends and creating beautiful artwork. For many years, as a member of the Upper Falls Women’s Club, she made gift bags at Christmas time that were distributed at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury.
Anna was the wife of the late Edward A. Costa and is survived by her sons Dr. James E. Costa and his wife Dorothy of Livermore, CA and CAPT David W. Costa USN (Ret) and his wife JoAnn of Manassas, VA, 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Costa, Ryan Costa, Nicholas Costa, and David Costa, and 3 great grandchildren, Luke Manke, Nora Manke, and Caroline Costa.
A visitation will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Sat Aug 21 from 9 to 10 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham.
