Anthony Signore Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony L. Signore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  Anthony passed away peacefully at his home in Newton surrounded by his loving family on August 10, 2024.  He was 88.

Anthony was born on March 20, 1936.  He was a lifelong resident of Newton Center and graduate of Newton North High School.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheila (Peaston) Signore to whom he was married to for 70 years. Anthony is also survived by his three children, Jan Anderson and husband Eric of Hull, MA, Debra Signore of Needham, MA, John Signore of Newton, MA, four grandchildren, Brian McElroy of Foxboro, MA, Kristina Pierce of Hingham, MA, Adrienne Timmerman of Walpole, MA, Ariana D’Amico of South Boston, MA and five great-grandchildren Mia McElroy (14), Grace McElroy (13), Grant Pierce (2), Maeve Timmerman (20 mos.) and Isla Pierce (5 mos.). He is also survived by his brother Nicholas Signore of Manchester, NH and predeceased by his brother John Robert “Chicky” Signore II of New Mexico.

Anthony was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, Crozier Council at the Sacred Heart Church in Newton Center for over 60 years where he ran the annual spaghetti supper fundraiser and the annual Christmas tree sales fundraiser for many of those years. He was a highly skilled career automotive mechanic who owned several automotive repair businesses in Newton, the Flying A and the Shell Station.

Anthony enjoyed spending time with his wife Sheila and family on Chalk Pond in New Hampshire, as well as taking annual trips to Las Vegas and to the Bahamas. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the absolute light of his life and he cherished every precious moment spent with them.  He loved singing his favorite Frank Sinatra hits, especially “My Way” and shared his wonderful sense of humor with all.  He was totally devoted to his family and friends, and was always there with a helping hand.  You couldn’t miss him always showing up in his Chevy pickup truck, and with his tools in hand your request was never denied!   What he didn’t have in his possession to get the job done, he would always seek out his friends to provide.  Thank you friends

Anthony was dearly loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten
