Arthur Douglas Obituary

Arthur J. Douglas, a retired Needham Police Officer, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021. He was 91 years old. Born in Boston, Arthur was a longtime Norwood resident. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War Era. Arthur was a Needham Police Officer for 32 years, until his retirement in 1994. He was the loving father of Rosemarie Crawford of Mansfield and Patrick J. Douglas of Boston. He was the proud and loving “Grampy” to Courtney, Allison, Olivia and Caroline Crawford. Arthur was the devoted brother of Rosemary Mahoney and her husband William of Burlington and the late Joan Cannon and Ann Crehan. He is also survived by his former wife and dear friend Marion Gaw and her husband Stanley of Norwood along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by many dear friends, fellow police officers and townsfolk from Needham and the surrounding area, especially his friends at the VFW Post #2498 in Needham.

Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham, on Wednesday June 2nd from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church 1360 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday at 10am, followed by interment with Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur's name may be made to the Norwood Senior Center, 275 Prospect St, Norwood, MA 02062.
