Arthur J. Marchand Jr. of West Newton, a lifelong Newton resident, died at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on June 9, 2012 after a 19-year battle with illness.
Arthur graduated from Newton High School in 1968 and had worked as a office supply sales representative for Standard Getetener and RPB in Boston. Arthur was a devoted family man and an avid Civil War historian and antique dealer. He had also helped to refurbish the War Memorial displays at Newton City Hall and erect the monument to James Ryan in West Newton Square.
Arthur was the beloved husband for 30 years of Cynthia (Mackay) Marchand, the devoted father of Sarah Herrera and her husband Nicholae of Sharon, Adam Marchand and his wife Krista of Boxford and Elizabeth MacLeod of Newton and the proud grandfather of Sophie, Vanessa, Chloe, Tyler, Nyomi and Oden. He was the son of Ann (Todero) and the late Arthur J. "Mike" Marchand and brother of Donna Gordon and her husband Jim, Joan Marchand and Alan Mannarino and Carol and her husband Patrick McKrill all of Newton. He is also survived by his sister in law Kris Mackay and 7 nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thurs June 14 at 11 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Wed 4-8 PM. Interment is private.
