August Ferretti, of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully on May 26, at the age of 95. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Judith Allen Ferretti, and by ten nieces and nephews—Linda Triozzi of PA, Arlene Ferretti of MD and her husband, Al Fornace; Margaret Ferretti of NC, Lawrence and his wife Bonnie of NY, and John, Christopher, Gerard, Marian, and Thomas of NY, and Debby Toto and her husband, John, of Wayland, MA. He is also survived by several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Lorence, and two sisters, Angela and Marie.

August graduated with a BS degree in metallurgical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1957, and worked at Lincoln Laboratory in MA from 1957-1968, and as a Senior Research Chemist at DuPont in DE from 1968-1995. During his working career, he obtained numerous patents for creating new ways of growing crystalline compounds, and he authored many publications. In his younger years, he and friends bicycled throughout the Northeast, and he partnered with several friends to rehabilitate an old farmhouse to use as a ski club in Franconia, NH. In his later years he enjoyed taking courses, gardening, traveling, reading, and visiting with family and friends.

August's wife would like to take this opportunity to thank the ICU Staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham for their kindness, compassion, and their exceptional care of August.
