Bessie Sherman

Bessie Sherman of Dover passed away October 21st with her loving husband of 73 years, Carlton “Pete” Sherman, by her side.  Born August 20th, 1925 in Boston, Bessie grew up in Brookline MA until marrying Pete and moving to Dover.

She was a stay- at- home Mom for a few years before embarking on a long career in Real Estate. She loved to cook, especially Greek food, for which she was well known. She loved to read, play golf, and a day did not pass when she was not busy working a crossword or Soduku puzzle. She also used her “secret” method to purchase and play her lottery scratch off tickets with great success.

She was predeceased by her parents Konstantinos and Maria Kounanis as well as her dear sister Sophie Jeon and brother James Kounanis. She leaves behind her daughter Linda Kous (husband William) of Leland, NC and son Carlton Sherman Jr (wife Barbara) of Munds Park, AZ plus 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held October 30, 2023 at 10:30 am at Highland Cemetery, Center Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to The Dover Church, 17 Springdale  Avenue, Dover, MA 02030.
