Betty L. Springfield

Betty L. Springfield formerly of Gainesville FL and East Detriot, MI died in Natick, MA on Oct 9, 2011. She was 87.
Betty was born in Graysville, TN and had lived in East Detroit, now called East Point MI from 1948 until moving to Gainesville FL in 1985. During WW II she worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. in Seattle, where she met and later married her late husband Tom. Betty was dedicated to her children and grandchildren and served as a room mother in her children's elementary schools, and was a volunteer for the Red Cross. She was also a longtime member of the East Detroit Presbyterian Church. Her family remembers what a talented seamstress and tailor she was and how she enjoyed sewing and was an excellent cook.
Betty was the wife of the late Thomas Springfield, and is survived by her sons Thomas of Hadlyme, CT, John and his wife Janet of Newton Centre and Jeffery and his wife Jolene of Marlborough. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily, Kate, and Anne Springfield, her sister Evelyn Borrow and her husband Robert of Gainesville FL, and 9 nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edgar Long Jr. and Mary Boczkowski.
Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Tues Oct 11 from 4-7 PM.
Betty will be interred with her late husband in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL.
