Beverly McNair Obituary

Beverly “Bev” A. (Lanius) McNair, 87, of Hingham, MA, formerly of Needham, passed away peacefully on December 5th surrounded by the love of her family.  She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Kenneth W. McNair.  A loving mother to her four children; Karen M. McNair of Needham, Lynne A. McNair and her partner Charles Paine of Walpole, Mark K. McNair of Miami, Florida, and Pamela, B. Raynor and her husband Chester S. Raynor, IV of Camillus, New York.  She was also the proud Grandmother to six fur dogs.

Bev grew up in Needham, MA where she graduated from Needham High School in 1956.  It was there that she met the love of her life, Kenny.  They were married on June 11, 1957, raised four kids and built a successful business together, Ken’s Auto Body, Needham.  After the passing of Ken in 1990, Bev continued to keep his business dream alive until she retired and sold the business.

As a devout Catholic and member of Saint Joseph’s Parish, she was a Eucharistic Minister, a Sacristan, involved with the Ladies Guild, as well as teaching CCD for the those with disabilities.  She also volunteered her time to The Sisters of Charity, Wellesley Hills, MA and Meals On Wheels.

Born with a caring heart, Bev dedicated 35 years to Cranberry Hospice, Plymouth, MA as a volunteer.  Her compassion and kindness touched countless lives.  Helping and being there for others in their time of need and darkness brought her a sense of meaning and purpose.

Wherever she called home whether that be in Needham, Duxbury, Saquish, Cape Cod, or Hingham her home was well decorated and always spotless.  Always cleaning something, Kenny would joke and say she would be buried with her vacuum cleaner in hand. She made her homes a warm, welcoming place for all who entered.  She loved hosting parties with her lifelong High School friends as well as new ones she made so easily.

She moved to Linden Ponds, Hingham in 2019 where she made new friends playing cards, attending luncheons, and volunteering at the Treasure Chest, a found raising program at her residents and Bingo Night. She was an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune, 25 Words or Less, and Family Feud.

Thank you to her compassionate caregivers who loved Bev and took wonderful care of her.
