Beverly Bigelow Young, 86, of Needham, MA, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Beverly "Bev" was born July 20, 1939, in Wellesley, MA, to Charles and Dorothy (Gardner) Bigelow. Growing up in Wellesley, Bev was a part of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, following her father’s committed membership to the Masonic Lodge. Bev graduated from Wellesley High School in 1957. She then went on to Lasell University, graduating in 1959, and followed her passion for medical research as an assistant at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and later as a medical secretary. Bev and her husband, William “Bill” Young of Huntington, NY, began a beautiful love story when they met in Boston. They shared a wonderful 58 years of marriage and raised three boys in Needham. Bev loved the town of Needham, serving as President of the Newcomers Club and was a long-time Board member of The Needham Community Council. As a devoted mother to her three sons, she was an active volunteer to Needham’s Friends of Music and to the Boy Scouts. Beverly shared a love for camping and travel, often spending time each summer on Long Island, Cape Cod and in Vermont with her family. She always embraced the adventures of travel and loved to reminisce of car rides across the country alongside Bill as they proudly visited 48 of 50 U.S. states, a milestone she enjoyed sharing. Bev’s faith was deeply held and she cherished the community of service at Carter Memorial United Methodist Church. Having attended Carter for over 50 years, Bev was proud to serve as a part of the Staff Parish Committee and dearly loved the church choir. Beverly will be remembered for her devotion to her husband and sons, her loving care that she provided her parents, for her adventurous spirit, passion for cooking, her beautiful laugh, and for her compassion to all she met. Beverly’s proudest joy and happiness came in her role as “Gram” to her nine grandchildren: Sarah, Christopher (and his wife Alex), Olivia, Cameron, Cole, Sophie, Liza, Mia and Isla. In addition to her husband, Bill, Beverly is survived by her sons Mark and his wife Eileen (Kendrick) of Hamilton, MA; Jeff and his wife Kirsty (Bez) of Medfield, MA; and Todd and his wife Allie (Moriarty) of Millis, MA.
Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Friday, December 19th from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Carter Memorial Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave, on Saturday, December 20 at 11am.
