Carol Redden Obituary

Carol  ( Ingraham) Redden, age 91, of North Hill in Needham, died peacefully at home on 9/11/22. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Oliver B. Redden and devoted mother of Linda A. Davis of Basalt, Co, Kathryn D. Cadigan and husband Timothy of Concord, NH, and Charles F. Davis, Jr. and wife Beth of Deerfield, MA, she is also survived by stepsons Alan G. Redden, Kenneth O. Redden and wife Wanda, and five grandsons: Kevin Cadigan, Bradley, Brian and Zachary Davis, and Benjamin Redden.

Carol was born to parents Paul and Lulu Ingraham of Wellesley Hills. She graduated from Wellesley High School, then earned a Sociology A.B. from Randolph Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of Phi Beta Phi sorority. She then attended the Radcliffe College/Harvard Business School sponsored Management Training Program and worked in personnel for General Radio Company in Cambridge. She married the late Charles F. Davis in 1956 and raised their three children in Wellesley and Weston. She later worked as an export sales coordinator and in administration at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She enjoyed playing the piano, tennis and bridge, along with volunteering and serving on the Boards of the Wellesley Junior Service League and the Tau Beta Beta scholarship organization in Wellesley. She was also a lifelong member of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church.

In 1992, Carol was remarried to Dr. Oliver Redden. After ten years in Wayland, they moved to North Hill in Needham. They became active residents, pursuing many mutual interests including overnight trips and musical activities. Carol served as treasurer for several organizations and was a devoted advocate for the nursing facility residents when her husband resided there in his later years. She will be remembered as a devoted friend, for her sharp mind, eloquent writing, copious attention to detail, love of music and board games, aura of elegance and her unwavering pride for her family. 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington St. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:30am with reception to follow.
