Carroll McMahon Obituary

Carroll F. McMahon of Newton Highlands passed away on Feb 25, 2021.

Carroll was born and raised in Lowell and graduated from the Keith Hall School. She received her BA in mathematics from Merrimack College in 1974, her masters from Northeastern Univ. in 1976 and her PhD in mathematics from Northeastern University in 1979. She was a professor of mathematics at Bentley University from 1979 until her retirement in 2012. Carroll enjoyed interacting with her students and loved camping with her family in Acadia National Park in Maine.

Carroll was the beloved wife for 40 years of Edwin O. Childs, the loving mother of Edwin “Ned” Childs and his wife Melissa of Alexandria VA, grandmother of Charlotte Childs and sister of Joan Noonan and her husband Frank of Quincy and aunt of William and Rory.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed Mar 3 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre. There are no visiting hours and interment will be private. Those attending the Mass must follow COVID 19 guidelines wear masks and socially distance.
