Charles M. Bellomo, Retired Chief of the Needham Fire Dept., of Needham and Delray Beach FL, died on Aug 20, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was 87.
Born and raised in Needham, Charlie graduated from Needham High in 1942. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as a Crew Chief on B-25’s and on the Needham Fire Dept for 39 years and as Chief from 1980 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Fire Chiefs Assoc, the Needham Exchange Club and had his Air Frame and Engine license. Charlie enjoyed golfing and was a sportsman, and enjoyed spending time at his cottage in New Hampshire.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Antoinette (Ferrera) Bellomo, his sons and their wives Gerald P. and Maureen of Needham and Frank C. and Meg of Attleboro, and his five grandchildren Charles, Jay, Michael, Ryan and Catherine.
His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM on Wed Aug 24 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tues 4-8 PM. Interment with Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham.
