Charles L. “Charlie” Woodman, a retired Firefighter for the Town of Needham, died on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. He was 70 years old. Charlie grew up in Newton, Needham and Westwood. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Charlie was a firefighter for the Town of Needham for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Later he worked as a truck driver for O.B. Hill in Natick and Greymont Excavating in Needham. The beloved husband of the late Janice (Herd)Woodman, he was the loving father of Charles E. Woodman and his wife Diane of Medway, Betsey Woodman of Dedham and William C. Woodman and his wife Jennifer of Needham. Cherished Papa of Kayla, Brenna, Chuckie, Liam, Gavin and Brendan. Funeral services will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Ave. Needham on Thursday December 16 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honors at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St, 5th Floor Boston MA.
