Claire Marilyn (White) Crowley, 94, of Wellesley, formerly of Newton, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Loving daughter of the late John W. and Mary W. (Cannon) White, she was the dear mother of Mary Beth Crowley of Wellesley and the late Robert J. and his surviving wife Patricia Crowley. Sister of the late Frances Morris. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mother, Artist, Seriocomic, Claire was devoted mother and daughter. Living in an era when most women did not work outside the home, she dedicated her time to her children and family. When her children where in grade school, she nicknamed “Mrs. Cleaver” (Leave it to Beaver’s mom) because she did all her housework in heels and pearls. Her children’s friends were always welcomed into the house and she could be counted on to feed them and lend them an ear.
Later in life she was affectionately named “Lady Claire”. The title fit her elegant and regal manor, and she always managed to make everyone feel special. Claire was also an artist and loved and created abstract art. She loved all of the arts, painting, drawing, theater, music and poetry.
