Claire Teresa (Leonard) Lavine, of Needham, formerly of Milton, and Brighton, died peacefully at home on Saturday May 29th, 2010 surrounded by her family. Claire graduated from Milton High School in 1973, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1976 and Worcester State College in 1985 with her Bachelors in Nursing. Over the years Claire was employed by New England Medical Center, Wellesley Women’s Care and most recently at Newton-Wellesley Hospital as a Registered Nurse in both Labor & Delivery and Healthcare Quality/Infection Control. Claire was also a volunteer member of the Needham Medical Reserve Corps. The beloved wife of Bennett Lavine. Devoted mother of Allison, Jessica and Matthew of Needham. Daughter of Margaret (Morris) Leonard of Framingham and the late Edward J. Leonard. Adored sister of Edward Leonard of Florida, Mary Leonard of Quincy, Ann Horgan of Braintree, Margaret Greenberg of Melrose, Kathleen Carten of Milton, Joan Cunningham of Quincy and Judith Rezendes of Sandwich. Sister- in-law of Lawrence Lavine of Purchase, N.Y. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church 1180 Greendale Avenue, Needham. Interment services will follow at Needham Cemetery. Memorial observance will be held at her late residence Tuesday and Wednesday 4-7pm.
