Cynthia M. Stanfield, age 78, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on October 16, 2021. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and grew-up in Needham, MA. She attended Norwich University and Framingham State College where she earned her teaching degree. She and her husband raised their family in Norfolk, MA where she also taught second grade for 30 years. In retirement she spent her winters in Vail, AZ and her summers in Marshfield, MA.
Cindy was passionate about teaching; after retiring she still volunteered at the local schools in Arizona. She would often cut her summers in New England short to make sure she was back by the start of the academic year in AZ. Nothing pleased her more than to watch a child’s learning progress. She also loved to sew, and especially, quilt with her sister Ardythe. Cindy enjoyed many hours in her sewing room creating beautiful quilts for not only friends and family, but also for numerous charities.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her husband Howland D. Stanfield. She is survived by her daughter Julie H. White and her husband Christopher J. White of Tucson, AZ, her son David H. Stanfield and his wife Stephanie Stanfield, of Norfolk, MA. She was the proud grandparent of Claire and Andrew Stanfield. And her twin sister Ardythe Eaton of Gilford, NH. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 5, 2021 at 10:30am at the United Church of Christ in Medfield, 496 Main Street, Medfield, MA. Please note that COVID protocols will be followed including all attendees must wear a mask.
To honor Cynthia and her late husband Howland, you may make donations to the Clinical Lymphoma Research Center, Dana Farber Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02005.
