Daphine Allen Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Daphine Matilda Allen who
left this world peacefully at the age of 96 surrounded by her loving family on March 1,
2025, in Dedham, Massachusetts.
Born Daphine Matilda Morrison on June 21, 1928, in Millinocket, Maine, Daphine was a
nurturing soul who embraced life fully and touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Daphine was the beloved wife of Dr. Harry Allen, with whom she shared a cherished
partnership for 56 wonderful years. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with
love, creating a beautiful family and an enduring legacy. She is survived by her brothers
Daniel Morrison and wife Phillipa, David Morrison and wife Betty (deceased), devoted
daughters, Stephanie Holmes and husband Rob of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Alexis
Gallagher and husband John of Needham, Massachusetts; and her son, Glen Allen,
and wife Faelynn Paterson of Oceanside, California. Daphine was especially proud of
her grandsons—John and wife Kristen, Michael and wife Emily, and Taylor Allen and
fiancé Julie, and her 3 great-grandsons who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and
compassion.
Daphine was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ann Morrison, her
cherished husband, Dr. Harry Allen, and her brother, Donald Morrison. Her family
remembers her for her unwavering love, fierce loyalty, and the abundant joy she brought
into their lives. As a mother and grandmother, she created a warm, loving home where
laughter and dreams flourished.
A graduate of Stearns High School and Eastern Maine Nursing School, Daphine spent
part of her formative years as a dedicated nurse in New York City while supporting her
husband in his medical training. Her dedication to a life of service is evident in the
warmth of her nurturing spirit and the love she poured into her family.
Daphine brought immense joy and wisdom to her family, imbuing each moment with
grace and warmth. Her love will always be felt in the hearts of her family, nurtured
through the stories they share and the memories they cherish. Known for her famous
apple pies, cookies and spaghetti and meatballs, she will always be remembered
through the food she so dearly loved to make for her family and friends.
A private family viewing will take place Friday, March 7th, 2025, at 11 am at the Eaton
Funeral Home in Needham Massachusetts followed by a brief burial service at 12 pm in
the Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale, Massachusetts.
As we remember Daphine, we hold dear the lessons she taught us—to love deeply, to
embrace life fully, and to extend kindness to all. Her extraordinary legacy of love will
continue to shine brightly within the hearts of those she touched.
