David Coyle Obituary

Beloved husband, father and grandfather David J. Coyle, of Boston, Massachusetts and Jupiter, Florida, formerly of West Newton, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by his
family on May 12, 2025.

Dave grew up in the Mission Hill section of Boston, where he attended Mission Grammar School and then Boston Latin School for his high school years, during which he met his future wife, Janet, the love of his life. Shortly after graduating from Boston College, Dave married Janet, and the two began an incredible partnership that lasted for the next 52 years.
Dave began his career as a management trainee at the Boston Gas Company before joining Mutual of New York as a sales representative, embarking on a path that would
change his life. In 1981, he and Janet founded The Coyle Company, a life insurance agency which grew to be an industry leader in generational wealth planning for high-net
worth individuals. Never forgetting his humble upbringing, Dave always gave to those less fortunate. He served on the Board of Directors for The New England Home for
Little Wanderers and St. Francis House in Boston. For many years, Dave’s second home was at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton, where he served as Golf Chair
and Club President and established many lifelong friendships.
While Dave’s professional accomplishments brought him great satisfaction, his most rewarding role in life was as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. With them he
shared his strong beliefs in the power of family and friendships, his passion for golf, and his love of travel. His most cherished times were the annual family summer vacations
that brought everyone together, even as the family grew in size. Dave is preceded in heaven by his parents, James E. and Catherine M. (Ford) Coyle, and his sisters, Marie Tobin, Joan Acheson and Claire Hanbury as well as his mother-in-law, Bertha Hillcoat. In addition to his wife Janet (Hillcoat), he is survived by his daughter, Amanda
FitzGerald (Jon), of Westwood, Massachusetts, his daughter, Abby Caponetti (Chris), of Summit, New Jersey, his daughter, Andrea Hansen (Gunnar), of Brooklyn, New York, and his seven grandchildren, Jack, Caroline, William, Aidan, Nora, Brynn and Otto. He also leaves behind a brother, Gerard (Kathy) of Onset, Massachusetts and a sister,
Judith Fraser, of Bradenton, Florida as well as several nieces and nephews including Roger Tobin, of Peabody, Massachusetts.
