David H. "Uncie" Welch

David H. "Uncie" Welch, a lifelong resident of Needham, after having no other choice, entered into rest, surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He was 79 years old. Born in Natick, Dave was a graduate of Needham High School Class of 1950. He was a US Army Korean War veteran. Dave was an excavating contractor and owner of Dave Welch Excavating, having worked in the Needham and Dover area for over 4 decades. In the 1950's and 60's, Dave a well known driver and owner of car #79 in the new england stock car circuit. Dave will be forever remembered by his family and friends as being devoted to his family and being a great friend. Son of the late Harold and Blanche (Tuttle) Welch, Dave was the brother of Robert A. Welch of Needham and the late Patricia A. Pryde. He was the Uncle of Lynn A. Griffin of Walpole, Diane M. Troccoli and her husband Peter of East Falmouth, Donna J. Marks and her husband George of Ashland and Paula L. Gilberto and her husband Michael of Ashland. Great uncle of Steven and Rebecca Marks, John and Bryan Gilberto, Carrie Griffin and Gregory and Katie Troccoli and great-great uncle of Olivia Marks. A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Monday, August 20 at 1pm concluding with Military Honors. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm. Interment will take place on Wednesday August 22 at 12 noon at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wilton NH. In lieu of flowers donations in Dave's name may be made to the Needham Fire Dept.
