Dawson Lewis Brown, 95 of Stuart, Florida and Needham, Massachusetts passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home in Florida.
Born November 8, 1922 in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada he was the son of Arthur Lewis and Georgina Hiltz Brown.
Dawson was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theatre at Midway.
Mr. Brown was the owner of Brown’s Oil in Needham, retiring at the age of 58. He and his wife moved to Stuart 37 years ago. They also spent time at Cape Cod. Dawson loved boating both in Florida and off the Cape. He also enjoyed salt water fishing. He will be remembered by his children for his kindness and having a wicked sense of humor.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Aurora; loving children, Vincent Brown (Marian), Laura Brown, Suzanne Pavone (Michael); cherished grandchildren, Jodi and Amy Brown and Kristina and Natalie Pavone; and great granddaughter, Aurora.
Dawson was preceded in death by his seven siblings, Lawrence, Tilley, Greta, Janie, Sparkie, Bud and Arthur.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Saturday, September 29th at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1:00 pm, prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dawson’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451
