Deborah Ann "Deb" Johnson

Deborah “Deb” Ann Johnson, born on September 15, 1966, passed away suddenly on September 21, 2023 in Tucson, Arizona. She was the beloved daughter of Roland George Johnson and her late mother, Marjorie Newton Johnson. Survived by uncle James Johnson and wife Carol, and cousins Myron Johnson (Tiffany), Ray Johnson (Cindy), Molly LeFebvre (John), Mary Gribulis (Derek), Andrew Johnson (Christy), Norma Scott Phillips, Luann Scott, John Scott (Robin), and David Scott (Terri). Deb leaves behind second and third cousins and many friends who became “sisters” over the years.  

A lifelong Needham native, Debbie was the center of her family, especially when celebrating her favorite holiday, the Fourth of July. Growing up with her cousins and grandparents in Needham, she had many fond memories. Debbie spent many summers with the Johnson and Scott families at the Day Cottages in Provincetown. 

Deb was kind-hearted, caring, and loved by many. She would go out of her way to be kind. She was a dental assistant and massage therapist, and later in life, she worked with the elderly and always made them feel comfortable in her care. She was a member of the Dedham Moose Lodge and assisted with fundraisers. She was the third female member of the Needham Village Club, volunteering for events and sitting on the scholarship committee. She was an “animal whisperer” with many pets and little friends like chipmunks, who became conversation buddies. 

Deb was an avid NASCAR fan and hosted a Daytona 500 party at Victory Lane every February. She loved 80s music and attending live shows. She made every gathering a party. Deb lit up every room she was in. 

She cheered for all the New England sports teams, usually wearing customized jerseys and attire. Deb spent her favorite days sunbathing at the beach or floating at the lake. She especially enjoyed boat days on the water with her father, Rollie. Her father was her rock, and they had a special bond. 

Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Friday September 29th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave, Needham, on Saturday, September 30th at 11am. Interment will follow at Needham Cemetery.
