Donald P., Lahey, a retired Newton Firefighter and lifelong Newton resident, died on Aug 17, 2021, he had just turned 94.
Don graduated from Newton High School and served during WW II with the US Army 47th Infantry Division. He was a firefighter for the City of Newton for many years stationed at Station 10 in Newton Center. He retired in 1982
Beloved husband of the late Florence (Griffin) Lahey, Don was the father of Margaret Bowse of VT, Donald P. Jr. and his wife Cora of TX, Roberta Tarallo and her husband Paul of MA, Matthew of MA and Florence MacLeod and her husband Scott of NH. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and was the brother of the late James J. Lahey Jr.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat Aug 21 at 12 Noon in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Elliot St Newton Upper Falls followed by interment with US Army Military Honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Fri evening from 6-8 PM.
All attending the Mass and visitation are required to wear masks.
