DORIS FORMAN, 96,of Newbridge on the Charles, Dedham, MA and previously Briarwood in Needham, MA.died peacefully at 6PM on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Her daughter, Gail Flackett, of Newton Centre, was by her side when she died.In addition to Ms. Flackett, Mrs. Forman is survived by two other daughters, Jo Forman and Wendy Forman and a son-in-law David Greenwald. She is also survived by five devoted grandchildren: Jennifer, Antony, and Rachel Flackett and Abraham and Anna Forman-Greenwald. Also mourning her loss are Jennifer's husband Mark Levin, Tony's wife Sabrina Zanella-Foresi, Abraham's wife Lynn Chen and Anna's husband Zack Pelta-Heller. Mrs. Forman also had five great-grandchildren: Franny and Finn Flackett-Levin, Dashiell and Clio Flackett, and Zadie Heller.
Mrs. Forman, also known as "Bubs", was born in Philadelphia and lived there and at Forman Acres in Bala-Cynwyd for most of her life. She moved to Massachusetts a year and a half ago. She was the widow of Mier Forman of Philadelphia. Together they were the proprietors of Forman's Store, a legendary dry goods emporium in North Philadelphia.
Mrs. Forman was also an artist, working in the medium of found objects. Her ebullient personality and singing will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at the chapel of the Gloria Adelson Health Center at Newbridge on the Charles on Sunday, January 30 at noon.
