Dr. Albert Franco, MD Obituary

Dr. Albert Franco, MD passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 22, 2023. He was a native of Newton, NJ, the eldest of three boys, and a product of a lively, competitive household. This spirited atmosphere inspired his father, Emiliano, to establish an annual family tradition known as The Franco Olympics, which would eventually become legendary and symbolize the unbreakable bonds that defined Albert.

Albert's educational journey took him from Brown University to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. Following medical school, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to the care of high-risk pregnancies, serving as a partner at Boston Maternal-Fetal Medicine and as an attending physician at both Steward Healthcare and South Shore Hospital.

However, Albert's true devotion lay in his roles as a loving husband to Marilyn Cruz-Franco and a devoted and proud father to his twins, Sara and Carlos Franco. He is also survived by his parents, Emiliano and Fanny Franco, his brothers, Michael and Kevin Franco, as well as nieces and nephews who meant the world to him.

For Albert, family and meaningful connections were paramount. He found immense joy in spending time with loved ones, and his life's purpose revolved around supporting high-risk pregnant women and offering unwavering support to his coworkers and colleagues. He possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and understood, always accompanied by his comforting smile and kind words. His actions, kindness, and commitment to doing what was right served as an example to all fortunate enough to know him. His magnetic positive energy had a healing effect on those around him, and he will be profoundly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Saturday, October 28th, from 4-7 PM.

A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later.
