Edward Reulbach, Jr. Obituary

Edward Joseph Reulbach, Jr., 96, passed away peacefully after a long and wonderful life on July 29, 2020 at his home in Falmouth, Massachusetts.  Ed was born in New York City on August 14, 1923 to Helen and Edward Reulbach Sr.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Claire.

Ed was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY, and Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.  Ed was an enthusiastic Boy Scout and earned the highest honor in Scouting, that of Eagle Scout.  He served as an Army Sergeant in the Philippines during WWII where he led a transportation unit.  Ed spent his career working for Honeywell, starting in the Sales Training Program in Long Island City, NY and advancing through the ranks to various leadership positions.  He retired from Honeywell after 34 years, ending his career as a National Sales Executive for an industrial controls division. After retiring from Honeywell, Ed kept active by taking on a second career as a sales representative at Spang Controls.

Above all else, Ed treasured time spent with his extended family, whether it be at the family home on Cape Cod or one of the many family trips Ed and Claire hosted that included destinations of Italy, Germany and elsewhere.  His support of his family took many forms.  Ed faithfully volunteered at the Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race to cheer on the family runners.  He also traveled to Paraguay with his daughter to assist her as she adopted her son.  Ed also became a Penn State fan to support his daughter’s alma mater!  Ed was a remarkable man – generous, loving and devoted to his family.

Ed was very civic minded and was a member of the Needham Exchange Club for over fifty years.  He served as President of the Exchange Club in 1980 and was awarded the prestigious Exchangite Extraordinary Award by the Club in 1990.  Ed was a longtime member of the Boylston Schul-Verein and played an active role in that organization.  He was a regular reader at St. Joseph’s Parish in Needham, MA and had a deep sense of faith. Ed most recently was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth, MA.

Ed is survived by his two sisters, Margaret and her husband John Monaco of Yonkers, NY, and Ginny and her husband George Horky, of Barefoot Bay, FL. He was a loving father to his 8 children:  Susan Wirtjes and her partner Tom Ernst of Waterloo, IA; Donna Reulbach and her husband John Wasner (deceased) of Milton, MA; Judy Martin and her husband Jim of Boulder, CO; Joseph Reulbach (deceased); Jim Reulbach of Needham, MA; Paul Reulbach and his wife Christina of Rancho Mirage, CA; DeeDee Martin of Coplay, PA; and Vicki Higgins and her husband Digger of Devon, PA.  Ed was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by family and friends!

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, Ed’s Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church and Interment with Military Honors will be private for his family.
